Urgent Alert: Changes to Solid Waste Services

Last night, WCA, the solid waste services provider for MUD 127, learned that one of its drivers has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. As a precaution, the helpers and other drivers who have been in close contact with this driver have been quarantined.

WCA’s highest priority continues to be the health and well-being of its customers and staff during an evolving situation. Consequently, the following changes to MUD 127 solid waste services are in effect immediately and until further notice:

  • Putrescible waste — material such as food that begins to breakdown and decompose easily in the Houston heat – is the top priority for waste disposal. Therefore, be sure to SEPARATE putrescible waste from yard clippings and other miscellaneous trash.
  • Place putrescible waste in plastic garbage bags, and place the bags INSIDE the blue WCA bins assigned to each residence. The blue bins should continue to be placed CURBSIDE for pick-up.
  • Note that there is a two-bag limit for yard clippings and miscellaneous trash, and WCA will not be collecting carpet or construction materials as part of regular pickup.
  • There will be NO Recycle service. Note that suspended services due to this event will not be made up or pushed to another service day.

Please direct questions about these changes to WCA Customer Service by phone at 281-368-8397 or by email at CSHouston@wcamerica.com.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience during this challenging time for all. Please take special care and remain safe.
